Set in rural Pennsylvania in 1897, this is the story of the small village of Covington
(population 60) surrounded by a woods inhabited by a race of "mythical creatures," and the
romance that blossoms between Kitty (Greer), the daughter of the town's leader (Hurt), and
Lucius (Phoenix), a young man who questions the policy of keeping Covington's citizens
completely confined to the village. |
I'm sorry - but I just can't take M. Night Charlatan seriously. He's a hack story teller who lucked out with "The Sixth Sense" - a vastly over-rated flick. This emperor really has no clothes. Since then it's been downhill with two real clunkers, ponderously and smugly directed, and poorly written. Anyone who thinks "Signs" is anything but a poor movie needs their critical faculties readjusting asap. The Village trailer isn't remotely creepy or scary. No doubt it will be a huge hit.
UPDATE...
Following poor previews which had led to the movie being nicknamed "Village of the Dumbed", Charlatan has been forced to reshot the ending which had scored as truly LAME by people who normally pay to see their movies. Is anyone surprised? Didn't anyone have the nerve to tell big head that 'Unbreakable' was also lame. That 'Signs' was pathetic?
