Donnie Darko seems to be a borderline delusional teenager with persistent visions of a monstrous, malevolent and amazingly scary giant rabbit. The beast is attempting to keep Donnie under its sinister influence. Prompted by this apparition, Donnie commits antisocial acts while he is undergoing psychotherapy, surviving the vagaries of high-school life and romance, and fortuitously escaping a bizarre death from a falling jet engine. Donnie battles his demons, literally and figuratively, in a series of intertwining story lines that play with time travel, fundamentalist gurus, fate, predestination and the machinations of the universe. Yes that's life, the universe and everything. A magical and moving tale with an ending that will knock your socks off - literally!!

Big fans of the original release (such as me) will probably get a feeling of trepidation. More does not necessarrily mean more as can be confirmed on any DVD containing deleted scenes that neither advance the story, or quite often completely ruin a tight, taut, well thought out tale.
Here's hoping this works because Donnie Darko was a mesmerizing and brilliant flick that simply messed with your hrad big time. Catch it again, if you can.
