A cargo ship is sent to investigate what seems to be an SOS distress call. Once it arrives on the planet the crew encounters an alien. The thing begins to kill them one by one.
The plot is as basic as it gets. The resulting flick is considered by many (including me) to be the best sci-fi/horror movie ever made. Often imitated, never bettered - in fact, never come near. An absolutely first rate bunch of actors add massive credibility to Ridley Scott's superbly stylish thriller. I urge younger folks who have never seen this in the darkness of a public arena to get out and get ready to jump. A gem from start to startling finish. Go Ripley!!
