BRIT CRAIG FERGUSON JOINS GUZMAN IN 'LEMONY' CAST
Funny Brit Craig Ferguson plus Luis Guzman have scored roles in the Brad Silberling-directed "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" for Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks.
The role is a fortunate turn for Guzman as his Fox sitcom "Luis" was recently canceled after four showings.

Guzman and Ferguson join real A-Listers Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep, Jude Law and Jennifer Coolidge in the film based on Daniel Handler's children's book series. Emily Browning and Liam Aiken round out the cast.

The book follows the Baudelaire orphans -- Violet, Klaus and Sunny -- on a series of adventures and unfortunate turns while mixing it up with the evil Count Olaf.

Guzman is set to play the role of the bald man, with Ferguson taking the role of "person of an indeterminate gender," who is an evil henchperson for Carrey's Olaf. Shooting starts next month. Handler adapted the material, with a rewrite by Robert Gordon.

Guzman's big-screen work includes such films as "Confidence," "Punch-Drunk Love," "Traffic," the current release "Runaway Jury" and the upcoming "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle".

Ferguson, who has starred in "Saving Grace," "The Big Tease" and the series "The Drew Carey Show," also has a three-picture deal with Morgan Creek for writing, directing and acting projects.

"Why do you think they call me a silly old tartan."
