William H. Macy is in talks to next star opposite Kim Basinger in the upcoming New Line Cinema thriller "Cellular".

Macy is fresh off his scene-stealing turn as Tick Tock McGlaughlin in "Seabiscuit" just released in the US - and out in the UK on 14 November.

Macy would play a cop in the film, which revolves around a kidnapped woman who places a random phone call and reaches a young man (played by Chris Evans) she must persuade to help her.

"Cellular" is being directed by "Final Destination 2" helmer David Ellis. Production is expected to begin in September for a release next year. The script was penned by "Phone Booth" screenwriter Larry Cohen, with additional contributions from Chris Morgan, J. Mackeye Gruber and Eric Bress.

Macy, who earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in last year's TNT movie "Door to Door", can also be seen starring in the upcoming Lions Gate drama "The Cooler". Macy also has appeared in the New Line releases "State and Main" and "Wag the Dog".

Though most buffs will remember his two stand-out performance in the the Coens' "Fargo", and P.T. Anderson's "Boogie Nights".

"Hey. This is my happy face. You should see me when I'm miserable."
