'Click'
is about a workaholic advertising executive who has
been overlooking his family in favour of his career.
One day, he comes across a universal remote that allows
him to perform TiVo - like functions on his life,
such as pausing events or fast-forwarding over them.
Columbia has paid about $1.75 million for 'Click',
a spec script by scribes Steve Koren and Mark O'Keefe
that studio-based Original Film will produce.
Revolution Studios will be a co-production partner
on 'Click', and preliminary discussions are under
way with Columbia-based Happy Madison to develop the
material for Sandler to star in.
'Click' is about a workaholic advertising executive
who has been overlooking his family in favour of his
career. One day, he comes across a universal remote
that allows him to perform TiVo - like functions on
his life, such as pausing events or fast-forwarding
over them.
When the remote begins creating its own memory and
choosing what to fast-forward over, the man sees how
much of his personal life has passed him by and realizes
the importance of spending more time with his wife
and kids.
'Great ideas rarely come around, but this is one of
them', said Original Film chief Neal Moritz, who will
produce the project along with the writers. 'I called
the studio, and we went for it'.
'Click' would reunite Koren with Sandler as the duo's
relationship goes back to their days on 'Saturday
Night Live'. Koren currently is working with Sandler's
Happy Madison and Revolution on 'Seeing Someone' (aka
'Imaginary Girlfriend').
In addition to 'Bruce Almighty', Koren has written
the features 'Superstar' and 'A Night at the Roxbury'.
O'Keefe has worked on such series as 'Jesse', 'NewsRadio'
and 'Politically Incorrect'. The duo also received
producing credit on 'Bruce'.
